Studio goes after porn pirates

Bad news arrives for fans of big Brazilian bottoms.

California-based porn studio Third World Media has filed a lawsuit against 1,568 individuals who it says illegally downloaded copies of Miss Big Ass Brazil #4 from peer-to-peer networks.

While the plaintiffs haven't been named, TWM has their IP addresses, the names of their internet service providers and the dates and times they settled down for their evening's viewing.

And it wants to subpoena the ISPs to get the offenders' identities, and start banging out the summonses.

The studio's got a lot of work on its hands, as it's already going after a further 1,243 people who preferred some of its other movies. And it's indicated more suits are on the way, says CNET.

The defendants come from across the US, and are represented by a large number of ISPs including all the major players and many regional operators,as well as several university service providers. These include MIT, Dartmouth College, the University of Central Florida, the University of California at Riverside, and the Tennessee Board of Regents.

They all watched the movie between March and July this year.

The Electronic Frontier Foundation has advice for anyone who does receive a notice from their ISP. The important thing is not to ignore it, it says.

"If you do not take action the court could ultimately enter a default judgment against you, which means a ruling that you owe money to the company that sued you," it warns. "A default judgment may be legally enforceable, and could be turned over to a debt collection agency or otherwise be used to collect money from you. It can also harm your credit rating."
