Chicago (IL) - The tech world received a major announcement today. Fusion-io, a startup storage company, has lured one of the most intelligent individuals in the computer industry - Apple's co-founder Steve Wozniak. Wozniak will serve as the company's chief scientist.

Fusion-io is known for its incredibly high speed NAND flash technology, which is designed for enterprise configurations due primarily to its high price and extreme performance. Their ioDrive, for example, is a solid state PCIe drive with operational characteristics roughly two orders of magnitude faster than traditional hard disks.
Wozniak, on the other hand, is well known to the entire tech world as one of the major engineers involved in the development of the first Apple computers. He became a legend in personal computing ever since he and Steve Jobs began building PCs in a garage in Silicon Valley. And in truth, the rest is history.
He joined Fusio-io's advisory board in October, 2008. Said Wozniak at that time, "Seldom have I seen technology advances that win in almost every way at the same time, in terms of speed, capacity, reliability, endurance, power usage and simplicity. The products from Fusion-io are extremely useful to so many different applications, not to mention most of the world’s servers."
And today as he moves forward from an advisory position to a direct hands-on position, he continues to tout Fusion-io's approach.
He said, "With the revolutionary technological advances being made by Fusion-io, the company is in the right place at the right time with the right technology and ready to direct the history of technology into the 21st century and beyond. The technology marketplace has not seen such capacity for innovation and radical transformation since the mainframe computer was replaced by the home computer. Fusion-io’s technology is extremely useful to many different applications and almost all of the world’s servers."
Wozniak returned to college to obtain a degree, and even engaged himself in different business ventures and opportunities over the years. He still receives a paycheck from Apple and remains a shareholder.

He said in this interview:
"No, I never resigned from Apple, and I still receive a small paycheck because I want to be an employee forever. The press constantly tries to make it out that Steve and I are enemies but we are not and have not been. You'll find virtually no negative words and definitely not a single person who ever saw us argue or fight. It's just something that the press likes to say. The Wall Street Journal once printed that I was leaving Apple because I was disgusted, even though I'd told the reporter that was not the case. If it were true, it's hard to imagine me staying on the payroll with employee agreements in effect. Every book from then on printed that story and it became history."
