Market watchers originally expected Powerchip Semiconductor Corporation (PSC), Nanya Technology and ProMOS Technologies to see on-month revenues drops of around 10% in September, however, due to the continued weakening of spot market and contract prices, the watchers are now preparing for drops reaching up to 20%. Weak consumer demand and the reluctance of PC vendors to place orders caused pricing for 1 Gb DDR2 chips to hit an historical low at the end of September.
