Jar of Beans is a portable Android emulator

XDA Developer Unrealmanu has coded a slick Android emulator for Intel x86 devices.

Yes, Jar of Beans emulates Android Jelly Bean (4.1.1) and supports Intel Hardware Accelerated Execution Manager (HAXM) – which offers hardware acceleration for the emulator to improve overall performance.

As The_Scotsman at XDA Devs notes, Jar of Beans is completely portable, requires no installation and can be accessed by simply running an executable file.

As expected, the emulator  boasts a number of configuration options. Indeed, when a resolution of 1280 x 768 or higher is chosen, the Android interface automatically switches to operating system’s tablet mode.

There is also a special button that allows devs to install APK files stored on their computer, switches for controlling volume, an ADB interface, multi-user support and the ability to create a virtual SD card.

A number of additional features are planned for upcoming versions, including keyboard support to allow full text input from a physical device, a choice of skins and multiple resolutions.
